Carol Bearden has been working with young people for over 15 years, was barn manager for another major west coast eventing barn for 8 years and has competed up through the Preliminary One-Star Level and continues to compete young horses. Carol is DC of the Briones Valley Pony Club, which meets at Poplar Place Stables twice a month. Dressage trainers are brought in on a regular basis for clinics and schooling H/J shows are hosted several times during the summer/fall.
The Bearden family has a long standing history of horsemanship from which we have drawn our philosophy. With strong roots in Pony Club, we believe in teaching students independence, thoughtfulness, and horsemanship.
Poplar Place Stables specializes in Eventing, because of the discipline required to compete the three-phased sport of eventing. The horse and rider must develop endurance and stamina to compete successfully in this demanding sport.
The safety of horse and rider are paramount to us. We believe in positive, sensible progression that allows horse and rider to improve at their own rate.
Chris Bearden has over thirty years experience training students of all levels and abilities. He has competed up to OI in combined training, has shown up through 4th level in Dressage and has shown in Jumpers. Chris won the USET screening trials in 1981 and attended the USET training sessions with Jack Le Goff in '82, '83, & '84. He is a past Area Chairman for Area VI. Chris is also a graduate 'A' Pony Clubber.
We also have a licensed Animal Health Technician on site who works closely with our vet, Dr. Dave Bogenrief of Estrella Equine Hospital.
